BayWa r.e. continues the successful global expansion of its solar distribution business with the acquisition of leading Czech solar wholesaler Solid Power Distribution.
This acquisition consolidates BayWa r.e.’s leading role in the European solar distribution market. It also further advances BayWa r.e.’s ambitions in Eastern Europe, where the company is already highly active in the Polish market, and was recently awarded the prestigious “Top PV Supplier” seal by EuPD research.
Established in 2015, Solid Power Distribution serves the Czech and Slovakian installer market as a distributor of high-quality components for residential and industrial end-consumers. Its brand-new warehouse in Prague, which is approximately 1.000 square meters in size and includes a state-of-the-art training centre, is currently being fitted out to ensure optimized logistics and dedicated customer support for regional PV installers.
Since its beginnings, the company has built an enviable reputation and become widely respected across the Czech Republic and Slovakia for its high-quality products and technical expertise. Its GoodWe inverters, designed and programmed as a unique product for the Czech market in cooperation with Solid Power’s technical department, reached a significant market share. Solid Power’s technical strength and focus on customer service closely align with BayWa r.e.’s own values and philosophy to prioritize customer satisfaction and high-level services.
“The Czech solar market is starting to take off and with the acquisition of Solid Power Distribution, we are now ideally positioned. Together with our success in Poland, the Eastern European market is becoming increasingly exciting for BayWa r.e. and we see significant potential moving forward”, commented Frank Jessel, Global Director of Solar Trade at BayWa r.e. “It’s great to welcome Solid Power Distribution to the BayWa r.e. family and with their technical knowledge and local market expertise, we’re thrilled to be starting this new chapter together and to be contributing to the growth of renewable energy in the Czech Republic.”
Solid Power’s customers will continue to be served by the same local experts on whom they have come to rely, with the same high level of technical support.
Jakub Fischer, CEO of Solid Power Distribution said: “This is the start of an exciting new era for Solid Power Distribution. With BayWa r.e.’s global logistics expertise and wide range of products, including its novotegra mounting system, we will be able to extend and complement our own product portfolio, improve on stock availability and increase competitiveness. We place the highest importance on supporting our customers day-to-day and together with BayWa r.e. we will now add a new dimension to our services that will greatly benefit all our customers and partners.”
The Czech government wants to achieve 22% of renewable energy in total energy consumption by 2030. With an installed photovoltaic capacity of 2.2 GW at the end of 2020, the market has significant potential to grow. Public incentives such as a “New Green Savings Program” for rooftop PV and new funds are positive signals for the market and should help to boost the solar sector in the following years.
